About You
What is your name, role at AWARE™, and where do you live?
I am Susie, Country Manager for China at AWARE™, and I'm based in Shanghai China.
What do you like to do outside of work?
In my spare time, I mostly hang out with my friends. We go shopping, try different cuisines, watch movies and chat casually to relax after busy work days.
What is your favorite local dish?
Crab-roe Xiao Long Bao, a famous Shanghai snack. It has soft, thin wrappers, tasty crab roe and hot soup inside. Remember to sip the soup first before you eat it.
Do you have any hidden talents or hobbies?
No special hidden talents. In my free time, I like playing badminton and going for city walks.
About your role at AWARE™
How did you end up at AWARE™, and why is it a good fit for you?
There are three main reasons I chose to join AWARE™.
First, the office is really close to my home, which makes it easier for me to drop off and pick up my child every day and better balance work and family.Second, textile supply chain traceability, DPP and sustainable compliance were totally new areas for me. I found this field really interesting, and it’s great to learn new things while working.
Most importantly, I learned during the interview that the company has a really good working culture. Colleagues are all friendly. We are able to exchange ideas freely, communicate openly and work together to figure out solutions whenever we run into difficulties. All these factors make this role a perfect fit for me.
What is your role at AWARE™, in your own words?
I’m mainly in charge of onboarding Chinese producers and training them how to use our platform. I also help them fix all kinds of problems they meet during daily operation. I bridge the gap between domestic producers and the global AWARE™ team to ensure the stable running of our platform across the Chinese market.
What does a normal day at work look like for you?
1st: Reply to emails from the headquarters and customers
2nd: Deal with daily WeChat messages and phone calls from producers. Forward their technical issues encountered to the technical team and follow up closely to make sure all issues are fixed on time.
3rd: For the new producers, briefly introduce the platform for their basic understanding, assist them to complete registration and KYB, and arrange follow-up training for them.
4th: read up on textile industry knowledge and news when I have free time at work.
What is your favorite part of the job?
What I enjoy most is communication and cooperation with producers. It’s a two-way learning process, they learn how to use our platform well, and I gain knowledge about different textile products from them.
What is something about AWARE™ you didn't expect when you started working here?
I didn’t expect platform users to grow so fast, when I joined AWARE™ in Nov 2023, there were only around 20 producers. Up to now, we have more than 150 producers in China. I feel honored to witness AWARE’™s remarkable growth and believe AWARE™ will gain wider recognition and achieve greater breakthroughs in the foreseeable future.
What is a recent small win that made you smile? (personal or at work)
I have gained more trust and recognition from producers. Many producers were resistant to using Aware platform at the initial stage of my contact, they worried about complicated operations and extra compliance workload. I kept following up patiently, walked them through the system step by step, solved their issues promptly and provided consistent after-sales service. Now they use the platform voluntarily and can operate it independently. I’m really happy that all my hard work has paid off.
What is one thing you are looking forward to in the near future (work or life)?
I look forward to seeing more and more producers join AWARE™ and become fully comfortable using our platform. I hope that they can not only know how to use our platform, but also gain tangible business value and real benefits from AWARE™.
